Online THERAPY

There are lots of names for “online therapy” – online counseling, telehealth, telemedicine, telepsychology, Skype therapy, web therapy, etc. – and different people define the same terms in different ways. All this can be very confusing.

It doesn’t have to be, though. If you’ve ever used Zoom, Skype, FaceTime or Google Meet, you’ve already experienced online videoconferencing.

For therapy, it works exactly the same way. You’ll see me on your computer screen, I’ll see you, and we’ll interact with each other in real time.

The biggest difference is that the software platform I use meets all the requirements of federal laws. Our conversations are encrypted, secure and private. Your personal information stays personal.

Link for online sessions

If you already have an online session scheduled with me through SonderMind or Headway, log in to your account on that platform and look for the link to your appointment.

For some clients, I meet on a different platform called Therapy Portal. You will receive an e-mail about two days before your session giving you a unique link to your session.

I also use a different portal called Doxy Me with other clients.

How to check in to a Doxy Me session

  • Use a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone.
  • Use Chrome as your browser. (Safari and Firefox also will work, but Chrome is preferred.)
  • Enter https://doxy.me/martindee in your browser. This will take you to my online waiting room.
  • Give permission for doxy.me to use your webcam and microphone.
  • Type in your first name and click “check in.”
  • When I see you’re in my waiting room, I will begin the session.
